Wild Woman – Part I: The Bone Collector

Motion design, art direction, concept, live show

Visuals created for a theatre performance by Princess Isatu Hassan Bangura.

Rooted in the ancient myth of La Loba, the Bone Woman who walks the desert collecting the scattered bones of wolves and sings them back to life, Wild Woman is a physical, visual and musical ceremony of resurrection. Drawing from African spiritual traditions including Vodun/Vodou, and driven by Afro-futurist soundscapes, metal, rap and ritual, the performance conjures a world that is simultaneously mythic and dystopian.

The visuals were shot on location in Sierra Leone and processed through analogue video synthesizers, distorting time, memory and image into something that feels both ancient and unresolved. The footage moves between document and fever dream, between the earthly, the ceremonial and the digital.

Part I will tour in season 27–28.
