Plants in time

Motion design, art direction, concept

An exploration off the structures and growth patterns of plants placed in a new 3D environment. During my time working on the Plant-based instrument I wanted to find a way to show the whole plant in one image, and through two different slit-scan techniques the 3 minute video of the plant turning is visualized in one image and a moving version.

After this initial exploration, the research continued by focusing on plant compositions captured through a laboratory lens. In a continuous sequence lasting 15 minutes, the plants scroll past in a precise, robotic movement.

This project was made to be part of the live show for DC Salas, and will be featured in an exhibition in C12 in Brussels. It was also featured in the blikvangers exhibition in the Melkweg in Amsterdam.
